As a D4 model, this watch is the solar-powered version of our popular 20ATM professional-grade diver. In our opinion, the solar movement provides the best of both worlds - perpetual timekeeping with incredible accuracy. Six hours of sunlight will provide six months of power reserve, and the watch can run off any light source (even candlelight).

INSPIRATION: In designing the D4 Meridian our goal was to pay homage to the history of military dive watches while also further establishing a distinct and modern Vaer aesthetic. This watch's dial design and bezel are inspired by Rolex and Doxa military divers from the 1970s - and the case is inspired by the military issue Omega Seamaster. The D4 Meridian Solar is further distinguished as one of the first Vaer field watches powered by ambient light - a premium feature that optimizes its use in remote settings and helps deliver on the promise of near-perpetual timekeeping.

"I own many watches and this is my go to most days. I love the simplicity and variability with different straps. Love the metal strap but mostly I use the black silicone strap. The solar is great and I really like the lume it has at nite; it fly airplanes and it is very easy to read in low light! Really hoping they do another collaboration with their D4 outerknown solar diver in marine blue !"
"It's rare to find a decent solar quartz watch with no date window. . . very convenient, no-fuss timekeeping. 37-39mm is the perfect size for my 6. 5" wrist, so this 39mm fits the bill. Furthermore, I really dig the navy matte finish. The only thing I found odd was the unsigned buckle on the included FKM Dive Strap. Never had a brand send me a generic strap before. . . perhaps a cost-cutting measure? Obviously not a dealbreaker, but all the marketing and user reviews I've seen showcase a signed "Vaer" buckle. Otherwise great job on this one, Vaer!"

"I enjoy this watch very much and have been wearing it almost every day. The lume is bright and keeps the watch visible. The sunburst dial is beautiful, as well as the numerals. The only cons are that the bezel is uneven in some spots and is especially noticeable when it is rotated. When rotating, it does not line up perfectly with the indices on the dial. I understand this is a micro brand and the watch is less than $500, but I would still expect the alignment to be at least a bit closer to perfect at this price point. Again, I very much like the watch and will consider future purchases but hope that the issue with the bezel alignment can be corrected."
